The People's Party (PP) of the Canary Islands will appear as a popular accusation in the Mediador case, in which an alleged network of extortion of companies in the livestock and food sector and other activities is being investigated.

The regional president of that party and parliamentary spokesperson, Manuel Domínguez, announced this at a press conference in which he stated that his party will appear because he is convinced that the Government of the Canary Islands will not give explanations.

In addition, he referred to the published information with statements from the alleged mediator, Marco Antonio Navarro Tacoronte, in which he alluded to a conversation with the president of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Pedro Martín, about the Los Realejos City Council, of which Domínguez was mayor in several terms.

Manuel Domínguez had called the press conference to talk about the debate on the state of Canarian nationality, which will begin this Tuesday, but he said that the political situation has made him change his mind, and therefore he has focused on the so-called Mediador case.

The president of the PP has asserted that in his party they are "absolutely perplexed and very upset" by a matter that, in his opinion, a priori, looks a lot like the ERE of Andalusia, and he emphasized that the Canarian government "links one scandal after another."

He explained that in the face of the current alleged case of corruption, he will ask the president of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres (PSOE), to convene an extraordinary plenary session to give exhaustive and detailed explanations.

Manuel Domínguez has stated that in the face of a "scandal of unknown dimensions that even splashes" the central government, and therefore the PP has requested the appearance in the Senate of the minister Nadia Calviño, because she is the president of a foundation that supposedly gave contracts for just over 2 million euros to the plot of the Mediador case.

And in the Canary Islands he has requested the extraordinary plenary session and the resignation of the Minister of Agriculture, Alicia Vanoostende, "not to look for a scapegoat" but because in a parliamentary commission she has said that all the controls have worked.

He has also asked about the reasons why Juan Bernardo Fuentes was replaced as head of the General Directorate of Livestock by his nephew Taishet Fuentes, and the latter was dismissed for lack of confidence but then proposed for the Mayoralty of Antigua (Fuerteventura).

He also wants to know if it is true that an official was relieved after transmitting sensitive information to the minister, as the so-called mediator has said, and Manuel Domínguez has demanded that Ángel Víctor Torres say if he really knew that this alleged corruption plot existed.

At this point he explained that there is an edge that affects him, and that is that Marco Navarro has said in an interview that the president of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Pedro Martín (PSOE) "sent me a message to overthrow the Los Realejos City Council and destroy Domínguez", who was mayor of that municipality in Tenerife.

In other words, continued the president of the Canarian PP, "this alleged corrupt plot not only allegedly extorted livestock farmers to later use the resources in drugs and prostitution, but also tries to destroy a political opponent, specifically it tries to destroy me", who is a candidate for the Presidency of the Canarian Government.

Manuel Domínguez has asked what the mediator means when he talks about blowing up the Los Realejos City Council "what dirty war were they planning to destroy me", and he emphasized that if it is true, "which I hope is not true, senior socialist leaders and senior public officials would have "used this mafia plot to liquidate, to destroy a political rival."

He stressed that as everything will remain unanswered by the Government of the Canary Islands, he will go to the end of the matter "not only because of what has personally affected me but also for the good of this land", and therefore the PP of the Canary Islands will present itself as a popular accusation.

Manuel Domínguez has said that for this action his party will be accused of political opportunism, something he has rejected because that is something that is done by those who use the positions that society gives them to blow up and destroy a political opponent,

He has acknowledged that he has not spoken with the president of the Cabildo of Tenerife, and if he has made that proposal "he should leave now, and if not the PP will demand responsibilities", and he added that in politics "it cannot be" that you want to end someone.

Manuel Domínguez has explained that he has not spoken with Pedro Martín because he wants it to be a lie, because if it were true "he would not be able to address a word to him in my life", and he added that he has come to politics to work for the citizens.

Manuel Domínguez has assured that he has no political enemies, only opponents, and has affirmed that his party will not use the appearance as a weapon to throw for its own benefit, but they will clearly say the information they have.
