The King and Queen are scheduled to travel to La Palma this Thursday to see firsthand the situation caused by the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano, which has forced the evacuation of thousands of residents and has already destroyed dozens of homes, as confirmed to Europa Press by sources from Zarzuela.

Don Felipe and Doña Letizia will travel to the island four days after the start of the volcano's eruption. The King has been informed from the first moment of the situation on the ground and already on Sunday he had the opportunity to speak with the President of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, as well as with the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, who traveled immediately to the island.

The King and Queen's trip to La Palma will require a modification of the agenda planned for Thursday, so Don Felipe will have to suspend the receptions for military personnel planned and finally it will be Queen Sofía who will attend the opening of the season at the Teatro Real, which the King and Queen were going to attend.
