The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, expressed this Saturday his concern about the approach of tropical storm Hermine to the Canary Islands, to whose president, Ángel Víctor Torres, he has offered "all the help that is necessary".
Sánchez spoke this Saturday with Torres to convey the Government's support in the face of the very heavy rains that are expected to hit the archipelago in the coming hours, as reported by the head of the Executive in a message on the networks, in which he also calls to follow the instructions of the authorities.
"I have spoken with President Ángel Víctor Torres to convey the Government's support and offer all the necessary help in the face of the tropical storm Hermine that will affect the Canary Islands in the coming days. Be very careful and follow the instructions of the authorities," he wrote.
The tropical storm Hermine will reach its peak this Sunday with "exceptionally persistent" rains on the eastern slopes of the islands of La Palma and El Hierro, where up to 180 liters per square meter could accumulate in 12 hours, as well as in Gran Canaria, with 120 liters in 12 hours.
According to data from the Meteorological Agency (Aemet), an "intensification" of rainfall is expected on Sunday, which may be very heavy (up to 30 liters per square meter in 1 hour) and accumulate up to 100 liters per square meter in 12 hours, except in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, where showers are expected to be heavy and reach accumulations of 40 liters in 12 hours.
