The Parliament of the Canary Islands hosted this Wednesday afternoon the award ceremony for the VIII edition of the Mesa Abierta Gastronomic Awards. An event that was attended by numerous authorities, such as the President and Vice President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo and Manuel Domínguez, and presented by the President of the Chamber, Astrid Pérez.
"Every restaurant, every chef, every producer contributes to making gastronomy a lever for growth for the entire archipelago," the president noted at the opening of the event.“These awards recognize the creativity, talent, and effort of our restaurateurs and producers. They recognize the commitment to quality cuisine, local products, and professionalism in our islands,” he added, while highlighting that the sector “currently employs more than 192,000 people in the hospitality industry in the Canary Islands.”
