The Minister of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands, Manuela Armas, announced this Thursday that the ratios of students per classroom will decrease at all educational levels and about 600 teachers of different profiles will be hired to face the needs of the new school year.
In a press conference, she commented, for example, that the mixed groups of Primary establish a maximum of 20 students, in ESO it drops from 30 to 27, in Baccalaureate, from 35 to 30 and in Professional Training, from 35 to 30, "also promoting the learning of languages and the presence of support caregivers for students in adapted education."
The Minister commented that the new measures will be "permanent" for the education system and believes that the distribution of the new ratio is "more fair", which will be supported by the arrival of about 600 new teachers, who may or may not come from the 2,500 additional teachers who were hired to face the pandemic. "There are 600 fixed on staff no matter what happens," she detailed.
In addition, she commented that she hopes to have the new 'Covid protocol' closed by mid-July.
