Canary Islands registers 4,087 new cases of Covid since Friday and regrets nine deaths

This Tuesday's data update is the last to be carried out following the general data of accumulated incidence, active cases and diagnostic tests performed.

The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands reports 4,087 new cases of coronavirus since Friday, March 25. In addition, the Islands register nine deaths since the last update, five of them were reported in Tenerife and four in Gran Canaria. All the people, aged between 57 and 95 years, had previous pathologies and were in hospital.

The Accumulated Incidence at 7 days in the Canary Islands stands at 425.79 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and at 14 days at 876.44 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

By islands, since last Friday, Tenerife has added 1,502 cases, Gran Canaria has 2,128 more since Friday, and Lanzarote has added 85 new cases. Fuerteventura has 91 new cases and La Palma has added 195 new positives, while La Gomera has 67 new positives and El Hierro has added 19 new cases.

As of this Tuesday, a total of 3,418,822 diagnostic tests have been carried out in the Islands, of which 16,441 correspond to the last 96 hours.

The total number of accumulated cases in the Canary Islands since the beginning of the pandemic is 333,243, with 13,700 active, of which 17 are admitted to the ICU and 188 remain hospitalized.

This Tuesday's data update is the last to be carried out following the general data of accumulated incidence, active cases and diagnostic tests, since the Covid-19 Surveillance Strategy, agreed by the Ministry of Health and the autonomous communities, has modified the control indicators since this week, prioritizing those that allow analyzing the severity and hospital pressure.
