The citizen is isolated and under health control, according to the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands.

An Italian tourist who is these days in the south of the island of Tenerife has tested positive for coronavirus after undergoing the corresponding tests in the microbiology laboratory of the Nuestra Señora de Candelaria University Hospital, on said island, as confirmed to Europa Press by sources from the regional government.

The tourist, a doctor from the area of Italy affected by the coronavirus, began to feel unwell and went to the Quirón Clinic in the south of Tenerife, where he remains hospitalized and isolated after testing positive in the tests carried out.

The President of the Canary Islands himself, Ángel Víctor Torres, has reported through his official Twitter account that the corresponding protocol was activated during the evening of this Monday. He also points out that the tests will be repeated in Madrid this Tuesday.

The Ministry of Health has activated a free telephone line (900 112 061), from which a nursing team, under the coordination of the Canary Emergency Service (SUC), will attend to requests for information from citizens about prevention measures, possibilities of contagion and false concepts related to the virus.
