A reader has sent La Voz a video showing an illegal car race in Lanzarote. Specifically, the recording shows two vehicles participating, one blue and one yellow, while another chases them while recording the recklessness.
In the video, posted on social media, you can see how the two cars position themselves at the same height until they step on the accelerator and the race begins, to the point of overtaking another vehicle that was traveling on the road.
Participating in illegal races or reckless driving can result in fines of up to 500 euros and the loss of six points on your license. Furthermore, according to current law, these infractions can also lead to jail time, with prison sentences ranging from six months to two years.
Also, a driving ban of up to six years, all depending on the severity of the infraction.
