A reader from Guatiza has sent to La Voz a harsh letter addressed to Canal Gestión in which he denounces the lack of water supply that the municipality is suffering and criticizes the management of the company in charge of the supply on the Island.

Under the title "Dear Canal 'Bad' Management," the resident expresses the accumulated discontent after several consecutive days without water in their homes. "We have already reached four days this week," he points out in the letter, lamenting the daily sacrifices that many families must make to save water and avoid depending entirely on tankers or tanks.

The author of the letter believes that the consequences of breakdowns and problems in the desalination plants always affect the same municipalities, especially the less touristy ones. "In municipalities where there is tourism, it is clear that they do not realize that something is not going well," he states, denouncing that priority is given to maintaining a "paradisiacal" image for visitors while residents face constant cuts.

Furthermore, the resident questions the institutional discourse on tourism sustainability and recalls that "a tourist consumes three times more water than a resident." In this regard, he proposes awareness measures for those who visit Lanzarote, especially considering the Island's Biosphere Reserve status.

The letter also refers to the situation of the so-called "northern pipeline," an infrastructure whose paralysis "for years" he considers incomprehensible and which, he denounces, remains unresolved due to a lack of political and administrative will.

The letter concludes with irony and resignation after another Sunday without supply: "Perhaps to return to our homes again it will have to be only holy water."

The water supply situation continues to generate concern and discontent in various parts of Lanzarote, especially in municipalities in the north of the Island, where residents report repeated cuts for months.
