The residents of Tahíche have contacted La Voz to criticize the "lack of activities" for Canary Islands Day in the town. The citizens denounce that the management team of the neighborhood association 'Santiago el Mayor' has decided that "no event will be held this year in the emblematic society of the town."

The citizens criticize that on such an important day as Canary Islands Day, which has "always" been held and whose event is a "social gathering where leisure, traditional music accompanied by dance, food and good conversations prevail", no "any type of program" of activities has been promoted.

In addition, other residents have expressed their "discomfort" due to the "lack of initiative" with respect to activities or events that may boost the socio-cultural center both by the Teguise City Council and by the association in the town of Tahíche, which has about 4,000 registered inhabitants. “The town has become a dormitory town,” they pointed out. “There are only events in the patron saint festivities during the month of July”, they conclude.
