The surfer Manuel Lezcano has addressed La Voz to demand through this medium, to the leaders of Lanzarote, to follow in the footsteps of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, who has approved a catalog to protect fifty surfable areas of the island.
"Waves like El Quemao, the left of La Santa, etc., of world level 10, should never be touched by the hand of man," considers the Lanzarote surfer, who approves the Majorera initiative hoping that Lanzarote will also protect its surfable waves.
Specifically, the plenary session of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura approved on Monday a catalog with 46 protection zones for the conservation of surfing and windsurfing on the island, for which it had the collaboration of a working commission formed by associations, clubs of Fuerteventura and other entities.
The document, according to the institution, identifies the favorable areas for surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing and bodyboarding on the island, as well as the surfable area (spot) of each zone. It also determines the area of influence of a typical maritime work, that is, the distance that must be respected when executing a work so as not to affect the development of surf waves.
