Residents of Lanzarote have denounced the "unexpected problem" that the Arrecife City Council has caused to the street vendors by informing them that this year they will not be able to set up in the Carnival stalls as they have been doing regularly for years.

In addition, they have pointed out that these "are reserved for restaurant merchants of the capital" of Lanzarote, despite the fact that the call for applications, published on January 30, "does not reflect anything" about that.

"Why are we denied when it has always been done this way and they deprive us of being able to earn to continue living and paying taxes", they highlighted in a conversation with La Voz. The street vendors assure that they had already processed the insurance and other documents necessary to carry out this activity.

In addition, they added that the Arrecife City Council is going to install five booths outside, "but it turns out that it is run by a private company" and that "the call for applications" for these outdoor booths has not been presented either.
