Several residents of Las Breñas have contacted La Voz to request a bus line that passes through the town and connects it with Arrecife and Playa Blanca, since, according to their complaints, years ago, the 60 passed through the town, but now only line 43 passes once a day "for the school children" and only goes to Playa Blanca.
Currently, the nearest stop is located in La Hoya, quite far from the town. Furthermore, if they wanted to go to that stop, they would have to cross the LZ-2 and walk to it without light along the shoulder of the road, which poses a great danger to the residents.
One of the neighbors, 84 years old, told La Voz that "there is no supermarket in the town and I can't go all the way to the La Hoya stop to catch the bus and then go back up to my house loaded with bags."
According to this resident's complaint, they collected around 300 signatures to make this request a reality and contacted the president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, who promised them last June that he would incorporate a line that passes through the town.
However, months have passed and they have not received a response. "I called him again and he told me that they are working on it," he stated.
In addition, another neighbor who finishes work at midnight explained that the bus leaves her in La Hoya. "I have to walk up there at that time of night and sometimes I see older people coming down... it takes me about half an hour to get home after working a match shift," she says.
In this regard, she mentions that there are elderly people who can no longer drive and have to walk to La Hoya. "Line 43 passes by, but that bus is useless to them, it only passes at 2:00 p.m., and although there is a taxi, it only passes in the afternoon," she says.
Therefore, what they are demanding is a bus that passes through the town in the morning, afternoon, and evening so they can go to Playa Blanca or Arrecife without impediments.
