The dozen or so bus shelters being renovated in Costa Teguise and which will soon also be installed in Playa Blanca have sparked criticism among some public transport users in Lanzarote.
"But don't we realize we're paying almost 40,000 euros for a bus shelter? Since when are three bus shelters worth what an apartment is? It's incredible, and that's how it is with everything, everything, everything, everything on this island. We truly get what we deserve because they rob us right under our noses and we stay silent like sheep," one of the users stated.
To carry out these renovation works, the Cabildo of Lanzarote has received a subsidy amounting to €895,061.20, granted by the Ministry of Tourism and Employment of the Government of the Canary Islands.
In addition, criticism also focuses on the structure of the bus shelters themselves, which have a design that **does not properly protect from wind or sun**"It's not just the price, it's how hideous they are. There isn't a single person I know who isn't outraged. César Manrique would dynamite them... Who chose them and with what hidden agenda?" another person commented angrily
