A reader has contacted La Voz to report that the Arrecife City Council has placed garbage containers in front of the entrance to her home on Góngora Street. The neighbor states that her neighborhood "despite being poorly lit, has been a clean and quiet area until the Department of Cleaning decided to place these containers right at the entrance."
This has caused inconveniences such as bad odors, the accumulation of garbage and belongings, and the appearance of insects. "We are suffering an unbearable stench and the accumulation of various belongings on the sidewalk, as well as flies, which has forced us to install mosquito nets," she says.
After the neighbor spoke with the Department of Cleaning, they commented that they would "try to solve the problem." However, the reader states that they have installed a new container, which further aggravates the problem."
The neighbor points out that "they are not asking for benches or pergolas, just a neighborhood that serves as a meeting point where our children and grandchildren do not have to avoid the garbage when they leave or enter the house."
