The boy had the Local Police report, his driver's license and residence certificate, but even so, the company told him it was "company policy", the mother said.

The airline Binter, prohibited a 19-year-old from flying from Tenerife North to Lanzarote this Wednesday. According to his mother's complaint to La Voz, her son "had his ID stolen" in a supermarket ten days ago, which is why "they didn't let him fly", the woman stressed.

He had a report from the Local Police of La Laguna, his driver's license and the residence certificate, documents that were not enough to allow him to board the plane. Even the Civil Guard went to the airport counter to speak with the company's supervisor, who unsuccessfully refused to let him board.

After speaking with the airline, the Civil Guard officers told him that "they could not do anything because it was a private company", the woman said. In addition, according to the company, it was "company policy", which is what they told him from the counter, in a "not very pleasant" way, the woman added.

The reason for the trip, the mother says, was "medical", the son had to have a "test" at a health center in Lanzarote. As they did not let him fly, he had to "postpone the appointment" and change it to "another day", he pointed out. "Luckily it wasn't something serious, knowing what healthcare is like on the island, who knows when they would give him an appointment again", she added.

Can't one leave an island because of their policy when they have the person well identified?, she asks indignantly.
