Gastronomy has become one of the great bets in Lanzarote, and the range of choices is increasingly wide. Both Arrecife and the main tourist towns, such as Costa Teguise, Playa Blanca, or Puerto del Carmen, offer proposals for the most demanding palates.
Alongside restaurants serving international food, in all these areas we also find establishments dedicated to local cuisine, some remaining faithful to tradition and others combining it with new culinary avant-gardes.
But if you have several days to enjoy the island, you can also venture into other corners worth knowing, and which can also boast of their gastronomy.
Again, the range is wide. Many inland villages hide top-level restaurants, but on this occasion, we propose three coastal villages where you can enjoy the best food with sea views.
Famara
It is one of the most emblematic villages on the island and a summer resort for Lanzaroteños themselves, as well as a sanctuary for surfers, being one of the main areas for catching waves.
In Famara, you will not find hotels, but you will find one of the best beaches in Lanzarote, as well as a varied offer of restaurants. Visiting them is entering the true essence of the island.
The town offers options for all budgets. Some of the restaurants are located by the sea, with spectacular views of the Famara cliff and La Graciosa; but you can also eat enjoying the charm of the inland area of the town; or go to the Los Noruegos area, located on the other side of the main beach. There, the slightly higher elevation also offers a spectacular panoramic view of the area.
Although it is not on the usual tourist routes, it is worth stopping in this small and picturesque village, with houses built on the edge of the sea.
Some of these buildings house reference restaurants on the island, especially for tasting good fresh fish. The village continues to honor its seafaring origins, and boasts one of the best offerings for enjoying seafood products.
In Arrieta, you will also find La Garita beach, and next to it, a selection of beach bars.
Towards the other side of the village, on the way out to Punta Mujeres (which stands out for its natural pools), the quality gastronomic offer also continues.
The road leading to this town alone makes the visit worthwhile. The area is one of the most magical places in Lanzarote, with the Timanfaya volcanoes as a backdrop and the river of lava that reached the sea. Visiting the area is imagining that moment when the two merged.
In addition to all the attractions in the surroundings, El Golfo is home to one of the island's must-see sights: the Charco de Los Clicos. But before or after that walk, it is more than advisable to stop at one of the many restaurants that this town has.
Terraces located next to the tide invite you to enjoy a good meal, and the products and cuisine do not disappoint.
