Zonzamas Plus Car Lanzarote added their second defeat of the season in the Guerreras Iberdrola League by falling 27-24 on the Balonmano Morvedre court. It was a match marked by an adverse start for the Lanzarote team and by the skill of the Valencians in the decisive minutes, although those from San Bartolomé showed character to fight until the end.
The first part started badly for Juanmi Pérez's team: after two minutes, Nahomi Márquez saw the red card in an action that, at first glance, did not seem worthy of such a sanction, as there was hardly any contact. The inferiority weighed and Morvedre took advantage of it to open distances, supported by the success of Andrea Claramonte, who put an initial 6-2 and forced the visiting coach to stop the match.
The script did not change too much in the middle of the first half, despite the fact that the locals also lost María Catalá due to disqualification. Morvedre, who frequently attacked in 7 against 6, found gaps and hit more clearly. Until the last ten minutes, Zonzamas maintained options, but the final stretch of the first period was favorable to the Valencians, who reached the break with a solid 14-10.
After the restart, Manu Etayo's team accelerated and had a maximum lead of seven goals (21-14 with a goal from Rebeca López). Zonzamas, far from giving up, reacted with a 1-5 partial that returned the emotion to the match. Irene Botella narrowed the difference to just two goals and the Lanzarote team even came close to getting within one, but the effectiveness of María Pérez and López herself returned control to Morvedre.
In the final minutes, the French Marie Louis, the match's top scorer, brought her team back to life with two consecutive goals. However, Morvedre knew how to manage the lead with patience and closed the victory with the definitive 27-24, leaving Zonzamas with honey on their lips and without having managed to score.
The next commitment of Zonzamas Plus Car Lanzarote will be on Saturday, September 13 on the court of Elda Prestigio, a match designated as the Star Match of the day and that can be followed live on Teledeporte.
