El Zonzamas Plus Car Lanzarote achieved a victory of enormous value after defeating Elda Prestigio 32-24 at the Municipal Pavilion of San Bartolomé, in a match corresponding to the second day of the play down. A resounding triumph that consolidates the team's good dynamic and reinforces its options in the fight for permanence.
The start was somewhat cold from the Lanzarotean team, with a low rhythm and some inaccuracies in attack. Even so, Ingrid Roger opened the scoring for the home team, although Elda reacted quickly with a seven-meter throw and a counter-attack. Equality was maintained in the early stages, with Gleinys Reyes establishing the two-all tie in the 8th minute.
From there, Zonzamas began to grow. The high pace and intensity allowed the potato sellers to take the lead, with Daniela Jerónimo making it 6-4 in the 12th minute, forcing the visiting team to call a timeout. The home defense began to make a difference and, with a very solid team at the back, Irene Botella extended the lead to 10-6.
Elda tried to react by moving the bench, but continued to encounter a very firm defense and difficulties in generating clear chances. In the 23rd minute, with the score at 14-7, the visiting coach stopped the game again due to the local dominance. Zonzamas was impenetrable in defense and very effective in attack, which allowed them to further extend their lead. Luna Voncina, after a good collective play, signed the 17-9 in the 28th minute, before reaching halftime with a clear 18-10.
After the restart, Elda tried to increase the pace of the game to close the gap, but Zonzamas maintained their defensive solidity. A counter-attack finished by Marie Louis made it 21-13 nearing the 40th minute, maintaining the home advantage.
The visiting team then opted for individual actions and managed to reduce the difference to 23-17 in the 45th minute, but Zonzamas did not allow the reaction to go any further. Driven by their fans, the "batateras" remained firm, with Gleinys Reyes scoring the 25-18 in the 47th minute.
In the final stretch, the team knew how to manage the match without incident. Ingrid Roger made it 29-21 in the 54th minute, practically sealing the match. The final minutes were used to enjoy the work done and close the clash with the definitive 32-24.
