The Vertical Nocturna once again raised the curtain this past Friday on one of the major events of trail running in Lanzarote, on a night when sport, nature, and music went hand in hand between Caleta de Famara and Las Nieves.
The afternoon began with the bib distribution at the pier, where DJ Chipi livened up the pre-race moments. At 9:00 PM, the starting gun fired, first for pairs and then, in a staggered manner, for individual participants.
With some wind, but good temperatures, the runners began the demanding ascent to Las Nieves. Fog appeared at times in the upper area, adding even more spectacularity to a race that left participants with smiles of satisfaction upon arrival at the finish line.
Yoel de Paz and Anya Lamprecht, winners
In the men's category, Yoel de Paz Baeza (Wild Trail Project) confirmed his favorite status. He was one of the last runners to start, at 10:01 PM, and completed the course in 34:36. The second place went to Rayco Hernández Morales (Volcán Run Training), with 38:48, while Pablo Matías González (C.D. Rempujo) completed the podium with 40:53.
In the women's category, the victory went to Anya Lamprecht Alfonso (CD Latitud 29º), with an excellent time of 49:13, which also allowed her to finish tenth overall. Estefanía Pérez Rodríguez (CD Latitud 29) was second with 1:00:34, and Melisa Campuzano Torres, third with 1:03:50.
In the pairs category, the men's victory went to Pingüirunner, formed by Samuel Lariño Fernández and Samuel Rodríguez Mejías.
In the women's category, Pitaya won, with Támara Manchado Armas and María del Pilar Brito Cabrera, while Stone Islands, made up of Javier Sánchez Peña and Auxibel Vega Rodríguez, achieved victory among the mixed pairs.
Sport and party at the pier
Depa, the usual speaker for Famara Total, was accompanied by Nico Murillo in the animation duties. Depa himself also started last, as he has done in other editions, to experience the Vertical firsthand.
While the participants tackled the course, the group Apegio livened up the wait at the pier. The music continued with the return of the runners, turning the first day of Famara Total into a true night trail running party.
Around 11:30 PM, the trophy and cash prize ceremony took place. The mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque, the councilor for Sports, Alejandro Ramírez, and various institutional and organizational representatives were in charge of presenting the awards.
The activity continues this Friday with the Famara Total Chinija, which will bring together 334 children. On Saturday, the main event will arrive with distances of 45, 25, 15, and 7.5 kilometers, in addition to hiking.
The XI Famara Total is promoted by the Teguise City Council and organized by Cronoline Eventos, with the collaboration of the Cabildo de Lanzarote and Lanzarote Sports Destination.
