The Haría Hill Climb in Lanzarote returned to its 8.5 km version with a new victory for Yeray Lemes with a Porsche 911 GT3, who thus adds two out of two this 2023 season in the Island Championship of his island of Lanzarote.
It was precisely the Lanzarote drivers who took command of the race in the top places of the classification, because in addition to Yeray at the top of the podium, he was accompanied by Toñín Suárez in third position with another Porsche 911 GT3. Of the large group of visitors from other islands, the best was José Manuel González from La Gomera with another Porsche 911, who in a good second official heat saved his leadership in the regional championship with the second final place.
Yeray Lemes already held the best time with Porsche (4.26.545) on the Lanzarote ramp with departure in Tabayesco and finish in the Mirador de Haría, making it clear from the outset that he did not plan to leave options to his rivals and signed the best times of the day, practically matching a 4:29.6 in the two official heats.
Already in the fourth final position was Angel Bello with the Audi R8 LMS, after being second, until the impulse of González made him drop one place in the general standings.
Another Lanzarote native, Oliver Rodríguez, took fifth place, which was not enough for him with another of the Porsche 911s that starred in the climb. His time 15 seconds off Yeray Lemes' time should not be like that. And in sixth place another follower of the Canary Islands Championship, also from Tenerife, Abel Mesa with a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X. Very good climb from another Lanzarote "flying" driver, Oscar Curbelo with the Renault Megane, seventh and first of the front-wheel drive cars. Ahead of another promising Roberto Hernández, testing his Peugeot 208 Rally4.
Finally, Jan Cerny had a technical problem in his Hyundai i20 N Rally2 and the Lanzarote fans were unable to see the Czech driver participating in Fórmula Rally in action.
The event organized by CD. Evesport was developed with total punctuality with the collaboration of Manguia Motor Sport and other clubs from Lanzarote and Gran Canaria, with three net hours of competition on the Haría ramp.
As every year, Haría was followed by many public and fans, standing out in the finish area because from there you can see a good part of the entire route. On a day of changes in the institutions, the climb concluded with the awards ceremony in the Plaza de Haría and the premiere in the act of the new municipal corporation, with the newly proclaimed mayor at the head, Alfredo Villalba.
