Yeray Lemes and Aitor Cambeiro secured a new victory this Saturday in the Villa de Teguise Rally, marking their fourth triumph in the event. The ninth edition of the rally was brilliantly held on the island of Lanzarote, with seven timed sections between Teguise and Tinajo and the finish in the Complejo's special stage.

The Lemes-Cambeiro tandem, aboard the Porsche 911 GT3, maintained an intense pulse with their neighbors and direct rivals, Toñín Suárez and Kimberley González, who were also competing with another Porsche 911 GT3. In the end, Lemes prevailed with a 19-second advantage.

Suárez managed to score three of the seven scratch times and was the initial leader of the day, but Lemes responded with solidity and ended up tipping the historic tiebreaker in his favor, while taking key steps towards the island titles of Lanzarote and the BP provincial title of Las Palmas.

Óscar Cabrera and his daughter Nerea completed the podium, taking third place after a brilliant performance with the only Rally2 present, the Citroën C3. They won the last stage of the day, demonstrating the effectiveness of the 4x4 in the most winding areas of the CICAR stage.

The top five positions barely changed during the day. Álvaro Caballero and Noé González, with their BMW M3, finished fourth after unsuccessfully trying to reach the podium. Fifth were the winners of the Rally4 Cup, Yoday Betancort and Pedro Viera, with their Peugeot 208, who also took the Promotion Trophy and the FALP Steering Wheel.

In total, 31 of the 38 vehicles that took the start reached the final goal at the Complex, where the awards ceremony was held with the presence of the presidents of the FCA and FALP federations and the person in charge of the organization. During the event, tribute was paid to Aurelio Cabrerizo, a pioneer of motorsport in Lanzarote as a driver, co-driver, and organizer.

Morning parity and afternoon tension

In the first and second sections, with four morning stages, the battle between Lemes and Suárez was very close: two scratch times each in Costa Teguise (Cajasiete) and Tajaste (Electrisol Canarias). Cabrera then consolidated third place, closely followed by Caballero.

TC3 was neutralized after Juan Carlos de la Cruz and his co-driver Edu González went off the road, without physical consequences. This incident advanced the Rally4 Cup title for Yoday Betancort, who already led the standings and remained fifth overall.

In the afternoon, in the third section, Suárez and González cut 1.7 seconds in the first pass through Tabayesco-Los Valles (Grupo Tiagua), but Lemes once again marked his territory in the second pass and arrived at the show section with the victory on track. The "top five" remained unchanged.

With this result, Lemes and Cambeiro secure the Lanzarote Island Championship with the Yaiza Rallysprint still to go, and take a decisive step towards the BP Las Palmas provincial title.
