Xiwei Chen is proclaimed runner-up of the Canary Islands under-12 in the Canary Islands Chess Championship

Nine young people from the island competed in Tenerife in the under-12 and under-14 categories, representing four Lanzarote clubs.

Nine young chess players from Lanzarote participated in the Canary Islands Chess Championship for the under-12 and under-14 categories, organized by the Canary Islands Chess Federation and held on May 29, 30, and 31 in Tenerife.

The most outstanding performance by the Lanzarote expedition was that of Xiwei Chen, from CD CIAL, who achieved the Canary Islands runner-up title in the under-12 female category after finishing in second place.

The island representation was made up of five players from CD CIAL, two from Tablero de Guanapay, one player from Lanzaloe 1Chess, and one player from C.D.A. Tinajoy.

In the under-12 female category, in addition to Xiwei Chen's second place, Yana Nasyrova, from Lanzaloe 1Chess, finished in tenth position. In the under-12 male category, Aaron Corpas López (CD CIAL) finished in 18th place and Thomas González Orban (C.D.A. Tinajoy) in 22nd.

For her part, Alicia María Pulido Buciuleac (CD CIAL) finished in fourteenth position in the under-14 female category.

In the under-14 male category, Sergio Regulez Cabra (CD CIAL) was eleventh, Yueyang Ma Ma (CD CIAL) occupied twelfth place, and Santiago Parra Erazo (Tablero de Guanapay) finished in thirteenth position. Hugo Robles Toribio (Tablero de Guanapay) finished in 18th place.

Beyond the results, the Lanzarote expedition highlighted the effort, enthusiasm, and learning demonstrated by all participants, as well as the attitude and sportsmanship shown during the championship.

Likewise, the support of the parents of the young participants was thanked for the trust placed in the island's clubs, and they were encouraged to continue supporting the practice of a discipline that transmits educational, cultural, and sporting values.
