Zonzamas Plus Car Lanzarote could not add points at home after falling by 19-22 against Conservas Orbe Zendal BM Porriño, in the star match of day 24 of the Liga Guerreras Iberdrola, played in the Municipal Pavilion of San Bartolomé. In a very even match during a large part of the clash, the Galician team knew how to take advantage of its moments in the second half to take the victory.

The start was marked by the defensive intensity of Zonzamas, which greatly hindered the visiting attack. Porriño did not manage to score until the fifth minute (2-1), a reflection of the good local work at the back. However, the Galician team found in the outside shot a way to inflict damage that allowed them to get ahead (3-5, min. 11).

Zonzamas responded with character. Irene Botella cut differences on the counterattack (5-6, min. 14) and Marie Louis, from seven meters, restored the tie (7-7, min. 16), in the best minutes for the 'batateras'. The match then entered a phase of maximum equality, with Alicia Robles sustaining the team under the posts —up to ten saves in the first half— and a scoreboard that reflected the equality (9-9, min. 22).

El Porriño opted for the attack with seven players, emptying the goal, while Zonzamas maintained its defensive level. After a local timeout in the 27th minute the match reached halftime with 11-11, leaving everything open for the second half.

After the resumption, Porriño took a step forward. A very effective start, supported by their goalkeeping, allowed the visitors to open a gap (13-15, min. 35) and shortly after extend the difference with a counterattack culminated by Pestana (13-18, min. 40), the maximum lead until that moment.

Zonzamas tried to react, but encountered the rival goalkeeper and the posts on several occasions. Even so, a small visitor slump allowed them to cut distances. Claudia Kaulback placed the 15-18 in the 48th minute, forcing the Galician coach to stop the match.

The sweet potato growers kept believing and, with a shot by Ingrid Roger, they placed themselves at just one goal (18-19, min. 54), igniting the hope of a comeback. However, Porriño knew how to manage the final minutes better, attacked again with seven and, after a timeout in minute 58 with 18-20, closed the match with the definitive 19-22.
