The promenade along El Reducto beach was the scene on Wednesday morning for the official presentation of the XXXII RCNA–Ciudad de Arrecife 2026 Triathlon, one of the most traditional sporting competitions in the Canary Islands and an essential event on the regional triathlon calendar. Organized by the Arrecife City Council and the Canary Islands Triathlon Federation, with the collaboration of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife (RCNA) and the Cabildo de Lanzarote, it will once again turn the Lanzarote capital into a meeting point for triathletes of different categories and origins.
The presentation event was attended by the race director, José Israel Caraballo (RCNA); the Minister of Physical Activity and Sports of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Juan Monzón; the Councilor for Sports and Commerce and Tourism of the Arrecife City Council, Eli Merino; the president of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, Julio Romero; the manager of the RCNA, Angelines Silva; and the representative of the Canary Islands Triathlon Federation, Erika Machín.

The president of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, Julio Romero, recalled that the RCNA–Ciudad de Arrecife Triathlon, born in 1993, is the oldest triathlon event in the Canary Islands. The president of the RCNA thanked all collaborating entities for their involvement, as well as the work carried out by the organizing team to continue strengthening a competition that is part of the island's sporting heritage. He also reaffirmed the entity's commitment to the promotion of sport and the transmission of the values inherent to triathlon.
For his part, the race director, José Israel Caraballo (RCNA), highlighted the intense work carried out to offer a safe, well-organized, and high-quality event for participants. In this regard, he thanked the support of public administrations, sponsors, volunteers, and collaborators, fundamental support for making the event possible.

He also announced the presence in the competition of the reigning European Triathlon Champion, an added incentive for a race that, as he highlighted, enjoys great recognition among island triathletes for passing through some of Arrecife's most emblematic locations.
The Minister of Physical Activity and Sports of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Juan Monzón, highlighted the importance of this event for the sports and tourism promotion of the island, emphasizing the insular institution's commitment to competitions that contribute to projecting Lanzarote's image both regionally and nationally.
In representation of the Arrecife City Council, the Councilor for Sports, Eli Merino, underlined the municipal commitment to sport as a driver of social and economic revitalization. Furthermore, she explained that the change of dates with respect to the traditional San Ginés festivities responds to the planning developed by the Department of Sports with the aim of distributing quality sporting events throughout the year, thus strengthening the capital's sports calendar.
For her part, the representative of the Canary Islands Triathlon Federation, Erika Machín, highlighted the relevance that the RCNA–Ciudad de Arrecife Triathlon maintains within the official FECANTRI calendar and praised the organizational work carried out to guarantee a competition that meets all safety and quality conditions for the athletes.
One of the main novelties of this thirty-second edition will be the new route designed for the Sprint modality, with the aim of offering a more attractive experience for both participants and the public.
The swimming segment will take place in the vicinity of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife. Subsequently, the cycling route will cross some of the city's most representative enclaves, including the historic Puente de las Bolas, while the foot race will run along the Avenida de El Reducto.
The sports program will begin on Friday, starting at 16:00, with the distribution of bib numbers at the facilities of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife. The competition will take place entirely on Saturday, starting at 10:00 and concluding, approximately at 16:00, with the awards ceremony and the official closing ceremony.
With more than three decades of history, the XXXII RCNA–Ciudad de Arrecife 2026 Triathlon will once again bring together triathletes of all ages for a weekend marked by sport, effort, and camaraderie. The incorporation of a new course, its importance within official championships, and the support of institutions, the federation, and organizers consolidate a race that continues to be a benchmark for triathlon in the Canary Islands and which faces a new edition with the aim of continuing to grow without losing the essence that has made it a historic competition.
