This Wednesday, the Wingfoil World Cup Lanzarote 2022 has started on Las Cucharas beach, where international, national, and even local promises will put all their skills on the water. The competition will last until Saturday the 9th and the schedule of the days will be from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. A total of 60 riders, from more than 10 different nationalities, will develop their talent in two competition disciplines.
The weather conditions will decide the times, but if everything goes as planned, freestyle will be the first competition mode. In it, international athletes will demonstrate a mixture of waves and aerial tricks, to score and form a stage of the Wingfoil Tour 2022. The Lanzarote natives Yeray García, Pablo Padilla and Koke Padilla will be part of the elimination round in this test.
In the surf race discipline, which is part of the second phase of the championship, the competitors participate simultaneously in a "downwind" slalom race. In it, the first to cross the finish line wins. The participation in the race will be mixed, and ten local riders will demonstrate all their skills to overcome their idols in the sea.
This competition is part of a qualifying stage of the wingfoil world championship, scoring for the Wingfoil Tour 2022. In this way, the result of this competition will be decisive, for the male and female categories, in order to proclaim the 2022 World Champion.
Remember that the Luca Beach Bar, in collaboration with the GWA, Ocean Beer and Lanzarote Limpia, organizes a beach clean-up, complying with the philosophy of developing sustainable sports events. On Saturday the 9th, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., riders, organizers and attendees will participate in a waste collection in Las Cucharas and Los Charcos.
