The Tinajo Municipal Pavilion hosted the VII Lanzarote Badminton Open last weekend, organized by the Lanzarote Raqueta Club, with the celebration of more than 170 matches, between federated and non-federated players, dividing both the male and female categories into two divisions.

In the first divisions, where the most experienced athletes played, there were very high quality matches, with short classification groups and with a final phase where Miguel Barbado beat Luis Miguel Fuentes by 21-16 and 21-11 in the men's competition. For her part, Irene Rodríguez beat Paola Betancort, winning by 21-14 and 21-11 in the women's category.

The second divisions were much more numerous, where adults who are in the initiation group, players from fifteen years or older who are in the island schools and players who do not have a federation license played, either because they have already put competitive badminton aside or because they signed up for the event to learn about the sport from the inside.

The men's final was won by Celso Betancort, who beat Juan Francisco Duarte by 20-22, 21-9 and 21-13, while the women's final was won by Ariadna Moreno against her teammate from the Puerto del Carmen Municipal School, Indara Elisabet Arrocha by 21-15, 18-21 and 21-12

The Mixed Doubles category was also played, where boys and girls shared a team in search of victory. The victory went to the duo formed by Adrián Carabali and Irene Rodríguez, who won by 21-9 and 21-15 against the Betancort twins, Celso and Paola.

The event has been considered a success by the Lanzarote Raqueta Club, which is already working on the next event, the TTR San Juan de la Rambla.
