The Board of Directors of UD Lanzarote has publicly denounced several episodes that it describes as "despicable" and that it claims have been suffered in recent weeks by members of a fan group. In fact, after the emergency meeting they held this Wednesday, they indicate that they will also study taking legal action.
According to them, it all started a few weeks ago, when "a video circulated on social networks in which members of the Trifulka Fan Club were singing and making obscene gestures" against one of the club's directors, "inciting hatred and violence." "The video was deleted a few hours after the social networks in which it was published, but it continued to circulate through mobile devices," they add.
In addition, they claim that a few days later "an even more serious and dangerous event occurred." "A person went to the workplace of one of our directors, without a shirt and with clear intentions of attacking him. Our director manages to calm him down so that he would not commit that act," they relate, pointing out that this person ended up saying that "members of the Trifulka Fan Club sent him."
The legal department is studying taking action
Given the "seriousness of what happened," the UD Lanzarote Board has decided to make it public so that its fans "know about these unpleasant incidents" and to condemn "any type of violent conduct in sports or outside of it." "This type of despicable acts do not help to consolidate the values that sport entails," they emphasize.
In addition, they announce that the legal department of UD Lanzarote is working to assess whether it is "appropriate" to take legal action. Finally, they emphasize that they are committed "to dialogue and conciliation from all areas, in order to reinforce the values that should be instilled from a sports entity that represents the entire island of Lanzarote."
