Magec Tías Lanzarote Against Gender Violence suffered a tough defeat this Saturday after falling 60 to 72 against CB Claret Benimaclet, a result that seriously complicates their options for permanence in the Liga Femenina 2 with one matchday remaining until the conclusion of the competition.

The match began conditioned by adverse factors for the home team. The last-minute absence of Ester Iranzo due to injury significantly reduced the rotations available to coach Jesús García, in a key match for the team's aspirations. Added to this was the prior victory of Basket Almeda, which placed the Lanzarote team in relegation spots even before the initial tip-off, forcing them to achieve a win to reverse the situation.

From the start, the clash was marked by a high pace and certain offensive inaccuracy from both teams. Magec Tías came to dominate with a slight four-point lead, generating positive expectations in the stands. However, the Valencian team reacted by raising its defensive intensity, especially in the pressure on the ball exit, which allowed them to adjust the scoreboard to 16-15 at the end of the first quarter.

The second period proved decisive. Claret Benimaclet showed an even more solid defense and remarkable accuracy from the three-point line, factors that allowed them to turn the scoreboard around and progressively extend their lead. Despite the timeouts requested by Jesús García, the adverse partial score, which reached 2 to 17, left the game very uphill for the home team, reaching halftime with a resounding 27-46.

After the break, and with the news of GMASB's victory, the urgency intensified for Magec Tías. However, the third quarter started with visitor dominance, which reached a lead of up to 25 points. It was then that the Lanzarote team showed character and resilience. Driven by a fanbase that did not stop cheering, Magec reacted by progressively reducing the disadvantage to 11 points at the end of the third quarter (51-62), keeping alive the options for a comeback.

In the last period, the home team came out determined to complete the feat. The difference was reduced to seven points, which forced the visiting coach to stop the game with 5 minutes and 34 seconds remaining (57-64). However, the pressure of the moment, physical fatigue due to the lack of rotations and the lack of time played against the Lanzarote team, which failed to complete the comeback against an opponent that managed the lead and the pace of the game with solvency.

The final score of 60-72 left images of deep disappointment in the local players, aware that the result places them in a critical position. With one matchday remaining, Magec Tías Lanzarote must win their next match in La Palma and hope for defeats of their direct rivals, Basket Almeda and GMASB, to avoid relegation.

With this scenario, the club faces an uncertain outcome that could put an end to nine consecutive seasons in the Women's League 2, a stage marked by commitment, competitiveness and the representation of Lanzarote basketball at a national level.
