The thirtieth edition of the Ironman Lanzarote kicked off this Saturday at 07:00 hours in Puerto del Carmen, after the 1,251 triathletes jumped into the water at Playa Grande. All of them will try to win the "iron man or woman" award.
The participants will have to complete 3.8 kilometers of swimming, then travel 180 kilometers by bicycle and, finally, complete a marathon, of 42.2 kilometers, along the maritime avenue between Puerto del Carmen and Arrecife. All this, within the established cut-off time: 17 hours.
Lanzarote has been preparing for this event for weeks, one of the most important in the sporting calendar of the year, and which is considered by many to be one of the toughest events in the world.
