New weekend of competitions for the sailors of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, being present in several regional, national and international events. The Canary Islands circuit of the Snipe class held its fourth event of the season in Tenerife, in which the club's sailors took the top three positions on the podium, with the victory of Miguel Ángel Naverán and Cristian Sánchez. The Spanish Cup was held in Optimist and a new event of the 44Cup was held in Italy.
The bay of Santa Cruz de Tenerife hosted this past weekend the fourth event of the season of the Canary Islands Snipe Championship. Eight teams from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife traveled to Tenerife, all of them putting on a great performance, and being the dominators of a competition that held a total of four regattas.
Miguel Ángel Naverán and Cristian Sánchez took the victory in the fourth event of the Canary Islands Snipe circuit. After starting on Saturday with an eighth place, the sailors of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife were second in the first race on Sunday, took the victory in the second regatta and were fourth in the last. These results allowed them to achieve the victory.
The second place overall went to Rafael Lasso and Alonso Pérez, showing themselves to be very consistent throughout the weekend, finishing three regattas in third place and being second in the fourth. And Miguel Ángel Lasso and Marcos Peraza climbed to the third step of the podium, sailors who won the first two regattas of the competition, but a line out at the start of the third one diminished them.
Pedro Miguel Ferrer and Yaimur Hernández finished the competition in seventh position overall, Fernando D. Hernández and Juaneko Ramos occupied twelfth position overall, one position ahead of Matías Garcías and Álvaro Bernal. Alfredo Morales and Aida Morales finished in 13th place overall, and climbed to third place on the podium in the mixed category. And Jorge Betancort competed with Ernesto Saavedra (RCNT), finishing in 22nd place.
Spanish Optimist Cup
The Spanish Optimist Cup was held in Murcia, a competition that included the participation of four sailors from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife. Pedro Medina, Mateo Roa and Unai de Ugarte participated in the sub'16 category, and Julián Suárez took part in the sub'13 category. The regattas in the Mar Menor were marked by the low intensity of the wind, which harmed the sailing of the Lanzarote sailors.
The best result was achieved by Pedro Medina Martín, who finished in twelfth place overall, in a competition in which 155 sailors participated, and was also the eighth classified in the sub'16 category. Mateo Roa (79), Unai de Ugarte (80) and Julián Suárez (88), completed the participation of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife.
44Cup in Porto Cervo
Alfredo González and Héctor González, sailors from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, sailed aboard the Lanzarote Calero Sailing Team this weekend. The event took place in Porto Cervo (Italy), with the Lanzarote boat finishing in tenth position, consolidating itself within the demanding RC44 circuit.
The president of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, Julio Romero, and the Board of Directors would like to congratulate the club's sailors who have been sailing in regional, national and international events this weekend, once again demonstrating their good work in each of them.
