The XIX edition of the RallySprint La Candelaria will be held on February 13 and 14, 2026 in Lanzarote, once again making the island the epicenter of Canarian motorsport by being the inaugural event of the competition calendar in the Canary Islands.The event, organized by Escudería Lanzarote, will count towards the Regional RallySprint Championship, in addition to the provincial and island championships. The competition will be held on the traditional La Candelaria – San Bartolomé stage, with an approximate distance of seven kilometers and six timed runs, three in each direction.
A high-level sign
To date, the event has 29 registered couples. Among the most outstanding participants are Yeray Lemes and Aitor Cambeiro, aboard the Citroën C3 Rally2, as well as Toñín Suárez and Kimberly González (Porsche 997 GT3 Cup) and Álvaro Caballero and Noe González (BMW M3 E46).
The N3 category will also be present, with teams such as Abián Domínguez and Alejandro Domínguez (Dacia Sandero N3), Acoidán Silva and Carlos Díaz (Nissan Micra N3), and Cristo Pérez and Jonatan Fernández (Kia Proceed GT N3).
One of the other attractions of this edition will be the return to competition of Isabel Pérez, who will compete alongside Taydía Santana at the wheel of a Honda Civic Sir EK4, loaned by Suso Lemes.The event will also feature drivers from different parts of the archipelago. From Tenerife, Adrián Chávez and Cristian Pérez (Suzuki Swift Rally2 Kit) will participate, who are contenders for the Canary Islands Regional Championship. Fuerteventura will also be represented by Octavio Gil, who will share a Volkswagen Lupo with Alain González, and by Daniel Guerra and Gabriel Espino (Subaru Impreza STI), who are regular frontrunners on the island's gravel stages.
A consolidated test on the calendar
During the presentation ceremony, the president of the organizing team, Dani Mesa, highlighted the relevance of the event and the organizational work carried out: "We are happy because this year we are in the regional championship. It should be clarified that the rally sprint in Lanzarote is changing, each year it is being assigned to one of them. We are still provincial, but this year we are lucky to be able to compete within that regional championship."Mesa also recalled that the rally maintains its usual format: “It’s seven kilometers, it’s six passes, three in each direction and well, that will allow us to see quite high speeds.”
The councilor for Sports of the Tías City Council, Ismael Cruz, highlighted the bond that motor sports represent for many fans: "The sport is a very special sport. It is a sport that goes from fathers to sons and to which a lot of people go to enjoy the weekend"
For his part, the president of the Automobile Federation of Las Palmas, Dani Ponce, valued that the RallySprint La Candelaria opens the season: “For us it is an enormous pride to start the season for all of the Canary Islands in the province of Las Palmas and also to do it again on the island of Lanzarote.”
The president of the Canary Islands Federation of Motorsport, Miguel Ángel Domínguez, underlined the federative support: “We celebrate that the Canary Islands Championship is here and we are pleased that the organization has wanted to bring the event forward and therefore that facilitates the calendars quite a bit.”
From the institutional sphere, the Minister of Sports of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Juan Monzón, highlighted the emblematic nature of the event: "To speak of the Rally Sprint La Candelaria is to speak of an event marked on the insular calendar of Lanzarote's motorsport."The RallySprint La Candelaria will once again combine high-level competition, passion, and promotion of motor sports, with a direct impact on the local economy and sports tourism, consolidating itself as one of the benchmark events in Canarian motorsport
