Puerto de Santa María, in Cádiz, hosted the first edition of the Spanish WASZP Championship last weekend, a competition that included the participation of two sailors from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife. Alberto Morales and Miguel Ángel Morales were fighting for the podium of the national competition, classifying in the fourth and fifth position of the general classification, respectively.

The WASZP class is relatively new and the Morales brothers have quickly adapted to it. It is a foil-one desig light sailing boat with a single crew member and two sails that adapt to the weight and weather conditions. It is a fairly versatile boat, and this weekend the first edition of the Spanish Championship was held.

The competition took place in the bay of Cádiz with west and southwest wind conditions, and an intensity that varied between 8 and 12 knots. A total of 8 races were held, four per day, and the last four rounds of Sunday could not be held because the most suitable wind conditions were not present.

Alberto Morales and Miguel Ángel Morales starred in a great competition and at all times they were fighting to access the podium positions of the WASZP Spanish Championship. Alberto Morales finished the competition in fourth position with a total of 27 points, just two points behind the third classified. For his part, Miguel Ángel Morales finished in fifth place with 28 points.
