To celebrate Canary Islands Day, on Saturday, May 29, Club Herbania together with the Canary Islands Canoeing Federation organized the II Canary Islands Cup on the Playa de los Pozos in Puerto del Rosario. Seven Canary Islands clubs attended the event to compete for the Cup.
The Marlines de Lanzarote Canoeing Club traveled with a team of 82 paddlers, from pre-Benjamin to veteran category, to face this second regional competition of the season.
The Lanzarote team stood out by climbing the podiums in practically all the races, achieving a total of 45 medals. The 15 golds, 17 silvers and 13 bronzes are historic and record figures for the Marlines.
With these results they were imposed as champion team of the II Canary Islands Sea Kayak Cup with 620 points, followed by Club Onexe with 334 points and Club Herbania with 117 points.
The Marlines together with the Canary Islands Canoeing Federation are finalizing the details for the organization from July 1 to 7 of the Sea Kayak World Championship in Lanzarote. The Club has 8 paddlers selected to represent Spain in the World Championship. On the other hand, they are preparing to face the Spanish Championship in Castellón in September and the Canary Islands Championship that will be held in the last quarter of 2021.
