The Lanzarote Raqueta Club concludes the season with three podiums in Fuerteventura

Last weekend, the 22-23 badminton season closed with the celebration of the TOP TTR Tuineje 2023, where an expedition from the Lanzarote Raqueta Club traveled with the firm intention of bringing some medals to the island. Miguel Barbado, Adrián Carabali, Oliver Gausmann and Zeneida Ortiz, competed in the different modalities of the championship held in Fuerteventura, managing to climb the podium in three of them.

Miguel Barbado, who started as the number four seed in the men's singles category, was exempt from competing in the first round, prevailing in the second against Aday Alonso Flores of the Club Deportivo Bádminton Tiguaneje by 21-10 and 21-8. In the quarterfinals he faced Darío Dámaso of Tenzul El Rosario, whom he defeated by a double 21-5, obtaining the pass to the semifinal where José Alberto Arguizuelas, first seed of the tournament, awaited him. The player from San Fernando de Valencia could not beat Miguel Barbado either, who achieved victory by 21-2 and 21-15, playing the final against Juan Ángel Fernández, a player also licensed from San Fernando de Valencia, whom he defeated by 21-15 and 22-20, with the island player winning the gold medal.

Miguel also obtained gold in mixed doubles with Andrea Arrones, a player who belongs to the San Fernando Valencia club. First they beat the couple formed by Pablo Murciano and Laura Álvarez, and the duo of Dario Dámaso and Paula Gutiérrez, rivals who they faced in Group A of the tournament. Already in the elimination phase they won against the couple formed by the Valencians José Alberto Arguizuelas and Tamara Rodríguez by 21-9 and 21-10, playing the final against José Molares and Victoria Castro of the Club Tenzul El Rosario, with the Lanzarote-Valencian duo winning by 21-19, 19-21 and 21-17.

The silver medal went to the couple formed by Adrián Carabali and Oliver Gausmann in the men's doubles category. They were placed in Group C of the previous phase, achieving victory against the couples formed by Manuel Ronaldo Cardeña and Conor Miranda, the one formed by Dayron Gutiérrez and Pablo Pineda, and the one of Mario Sebastián Pinto and Samuel Tarife. In the final phase, they defeated Juan Manuel Cortés and Elías García of Tenzul El Rosario in a very close match by 17-21, 21-17 and 21-19, obtaining the pass to the final. In the last match of the tournament, the players of the Club Deportivo Bádminton Tiguaneje, Aday Alonso Flores and Alejandro Antonio Flores, won by 21-7 and 21-12, leaving the Lanzarote players with the silver around their necks.

With this tournament the season of the Lanzarote Raqueta Club concludes, which is already thinking about the events that will take place after the summer.
