Last Sunday's training regatta was the starting gun for the 2025 season of Latin sail barquillos in Lanzarote, and ahead are intense months of competition in the 8.55 and 5-meter categories, defending and promoting the values of indigenous sports in another campaign. The Island Federation of Latin Sail Barquillos of Lanzarote will present the sports calendar for the 2025 season this Friday.

The presentation ceremony will take place this Friday, March 28, starting at 12:00 noon, at the Music Kiosk in Arrecife. The president of the Island Federation of Latin Sail Barquillos of Lanzarote, Juan Pérez, will be accompanied by Ángel Vázquez, councilor of the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers of Lanzarote, and Juan Monzón, head of the Sports Area of the Cabildo of Lanzarote. Representatives of the town councils of Arrecife, Teguise, Tías, Yaiza and Haría, municipalities in which the regatta calendar will be developed, will also attend.

The 2025 season officially kicks off next Sunday, March 30, with the celebration of the first regatta of the Island League of Latin Sail Barquillos of 8.55 meters. A category that this year includes the participation of Villa de Teguise, Puerto del Arrecife, Maramajo, Volcán de la Corona and Graciosero. Eight regattas make up the calendar, in addition to the Boats and Barquillos Meeting on August 12 and the Bajada del Risco on October 11.

In June, the 5-meter category will start with the celebration of the Southern Cup in Playa Blanca, which will give way to the Island League of Latin Sail Barquillos of 5 Meters, which will begin in mid-July, with the participation of about twenty boats. The two Patrones Novenes regattas will close the season in November.
