With idyllic conditions for the practice of this sport, more than 100 windsurfers from 26 nationalities competed, since last January 28, in the waters of Marina Rubicón, Playa Blanca. The Lanzarote iQFOiL Games have been synonymous with pure spectacle, such as that offered by Johan Søe, from Denmark, who was the winner of the event.

The podium was completed by the Italians Nicolò Renna, and Manolo Modena. Nacho Baltasar, the Majorcan representative of Spain, reached the semifinal, but could not reach the final, thus achieving a sixth place.

As for the women's classification, the British Emma Wilson rose as winner of the event, sharing the podium with her partner Islay Watson, who obtained the third place. Second place was won by Shahar Tibi, from Israel. "It has been an incredible week here in Lanzarote," Wilson said after the regatta.

For Rafael Lasso, CEO of Marina Rubicón, "it is a pride that Lanzarote continues to be a training base for all these elite athletes and we are very happy to have inaugurated this new Olympic cycle." "The road to Los Angeles 2028 begins in Lanzarote," he added.

Today's Medal Series aroused great expectation with the premiere of a new format, which provided a very dynamic final. The difficult weather conditions, with gusty and variable north winds between 10 and 16 knots, intensified the competition and motivated the participants to give their best.

We remind you that the regatta season of Marina Rubicón does not end here, since the Lanzarote International Regatta begins on February 15. This event will have two stages: the first, until February 18, with iQFOiL male and female, 49er and 49er FX; and then, from February 20 to 23, it will be the turn of the 470, ILCA 6 and 7, Waszp and Snipe classes.

This event is organized by Marina Rubicón and is sponsored by Turismo Lanzarote through its sports tourism product "Lanzarote Sports Destination", the Cabildo de Lanzarote through the Insular Sports Service, the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers of the Cabildo de Lanzarote and the Yaiza City Council; with the collaboration, among others, of the Canary Islands Sailing Federation, DinghyCoach and the Latin Sailing federations.
