With nothing at stake for CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife and with Elda Prestigio fighting to escape the play-down zone, the match of the twenty-fourth round of the Liga Guerreras Iberdrola took place on Sunday midday. The team from Lanzarote encountered a fierce defense from the Alicante team from the start of the match, having many problems to beat the goal defended by Meriem Ezbida.
Elda Prestigio set a high pace for its game from the start of the match, scoring the first two goals in actions by wingers Paula Lluch and Rafaela Gonçalvez. CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife had problems overcoming the visitor's defense, losing balls and not scoring due to the good interventions of Meriem Ezbida under the posts.
Lora Sarandeva scored from her court taking advantage that the locals had the goal empty without a goalkeeper, at the moment in which Carlos Britos deposited the timeout card on the officials' table. After the instructions from the bench, Lora Sarandeva repeated the same action, extending the difference to five goals (1-6).
CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife only scored two goals in the first fifteen minutes of the match, and from the bench solutions were sought by attacking with seven players to generate superiorities. The goals by Alba Tort from seven meters, Rocío Squizziato and Ana Radovic, reduced the differences and the break was reached with a score of 9 to 13.
Elda Prestigio once again showed itself very intense on the playing court in the first minutes of the second half. Carlos Britos again requested a timeout in the 9th minute of the restart (14-21), and barely six minutes later used up all the timeouts upon seeing that his team was not reacting on the playing court (15-24).
The difference stood at ten goals, and despite the attempts of CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife, several balls crashed against the goalpost and in other actions the locals lost the ball quite easily in attack actions. Elda Prestigio managed its advantage to take to Alicante the two points that were at stake.
Defeat of CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife by 24 to 30 against Elda Prestigio, in what has been the penultimate match of the season at the Titerroy Municipal Pavilion. The Lanzarote women play on Wednesday afternoon the match of day 25 against Replasa Beti-Onak, traveling to Navarra to face this match.
