The Cabildo of Lanzarote receives Ariadne Giménez, world runner-up in Kayak

The Cabildo of Lanzarote recently welcomed the world runner-up in Kayaking, Lanzarote native Ariadne Giménez, a member of the Marlines Club, following her participation in the ICF Canoe Ocean Racing World Championships 2025, held in South Africa.

The president, Oswaldo Betancort, highlighted the professional's effort and dedication in fostering the development of canoeing, where, along with her teammate Pau Sánchez, from the La Vila Joiosa Nautical Club, "they demonstrated the talent that exists on our island".

"During the competition, he has demonstrated his extremely high level of performance, and from the island corporation, we are extremely proud and grateful for him bringing Lanzarote to the forefront of this sporting discipline," emphasized the Minister of Physical Activity and Sport, Juan Monzón.

Ariadne Giménez received the silver medal in the SS2 Mixed Junior category, representing Spain and the Canary Islands. This event consisted of a 29-kilometer crossing, with waves between two and three meters high. Furthermore, she ranked fourth best in the world in SS1 Junior Women's.
