The bay of Arrecife vibrates with the 2026 Windsurfer Spanish Cup – Javier Hidalgo Memorial

Arrecife has become this weekend the heart of the windsurfer class, with the celebration of the 2026 Spanish Windsurfer Cup – Javier Hidalgo Memorial, which brought together nearly 80 sailors from all over the national geography. The event was organized by the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, and during the three days the nine planned races could be held, finishing on Sunday with a six-mile race along the coast of the capital of Lanzarote.

On Friday morning, the 2026 Spanish Windsurfer Cup was launched, and it did so with an emotional ceremony in which tribute was paid to Javier Hidalgo, one of the great driving forces behind this event on the national calendar taking place on the island of Lanzarote.

The six-mile race took place with a north component wind and an intensity of ten knots, an intensity that decreased throughout the dayThe absolute victory of the 2026 Spanish Windsurfer Cup – Javier Hidalgo Memorial went to Ricardo Jiménez (Real Club Náutico de la Línea), and the podium was completed with the second place of Borja Melgarejo (Real Club Marítimo y Tenis de Punta Umbría) and the third position of Fernando González del Castillo (Real Club Náutico de la Coruña).In the women's category, María Elena Boyé (Sailing Federation of Castilla La Mancha) took the victory, and Pilar Prieto (Club Deportivo Orillas de Alocén) and Cristina Roca (Club Deportivo Los Charcos), completed the podium with the second and third positions, respectively.Regarding the different categories, highlight the triumph of the Lanzarotean Carlos Morales Quintana (Real Club Náutico de Arrecife) in category C "Heavyweights", and the triumph of Manuel Torres Barreiro (Federación Canaria de Vela) in category D "Super Heavyweights".

 

Ricardo Jiménez took the victory in the A "Lightweights" category and Fernando González del Castillo took the triumph in the B "Mediums" category.

At the conclusion of Sunday's regatta, the trophy presentation for the 2026 Spanish Windsurfer Cup – Javier Hidalgo Memorial took place.
