The second day of the 44Cup Calero Marinas once again offered a spectacular day of racing in Lanzarote waters, with ideal conditions for high-level competition. The wind, which ranged between 15 and 22 knots, allowed for very fast and technical races to be held, with great speeds on downwind legs and demanding downwind runs that tested the crews' skill
The constant wind shifts added an extra layer of tactical complexity to the courses, making the races especially demanding for the tacticians and raising the level of competition in each heat
During the day, the three scheduled races were held. In the first heat, the victory went to Team Aqua, followed by Artemis Racing and Aleph Racing.
The second race featured Gemera, who won ahead of Team Aqua and Artemis Racing, consolidating their consistency in the general classification.
The big surprise of the day came in the third and final race, where the boat Wow! Sailing Team with double owner, Taki & Murat Edin, one of the youngest teams in the fleet and starting their second season on the 44Cup circuit, achieved a brilliant victory with Murat Edin at the helm. They were joined on the partial podium by Península Racing, in second position, and Team Aqua, third
"Yesterday we were close, but today we achieved it. We had some favorable rolls and maintained a very consistent navigation, without making big mistakes or suffering damage. Everything under control" declared Murat Edin. "We are building something that works. Little by little we better anticipate the team's needs and everything is coming together solidly."
After the second day was completed, the provisional overall standings are led by Gemera of Markus Törnqvist, with 17 points, followed by Team Aqua of Chris Bake, with 20 points, and Peninsula Racing of John Bassadone, also with 20 points, which keeps the fight for the podium completely open.
Looking ahead to tomorrow's day, forecasts point to a notable change in conditions, with the arrival of light breezes, so everything can change and the excitement will remain until the last minute.
Once again, the Lanzarote regatta course demonstrates its enormous spectacularity, offering very changing conditions that test the best sailors in the world, confirming the island as one of the most complete and demanding venues on the international circuitAll the event information can be consulted at www.44cupcaleromarinas.com.The 44Cup Calero Marinas is organized by the 44 Class Association and Calero Marinas, and has the sponsorship of the Government of the Canary Islands, Canary Islands, Cabildo of Lanzarote, Lanzarote Sports Destination, Insular Service of Sports of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Yaiza City Council, Deportes Yaiza and Cicar, as well as the collaboration of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife.
