Santiago Parra Erazo, a player from the Tinajo Chess Club, has become the king of the under 10 category after winning the Canary Islands Chess Championship.
An event that was held in the halls of the Hotel Taburiente Playa, in Breña Baja, La Palma, in the under 8 and under 10 categories.
To become champion, he won six games of the seven played, thus achieving the best sporting result in his history, especially when in the initial list of players he appeared in 25th place, and winning against four children with FIDE ELO Ranking.
This young man started in the sport of chess from the age of 6, says his monitor, Tony González, who has been preparing him since then. According to Tony, this child "has an impressive technical development, combining his strategies very well with the appropriate use of tactical elements that lead him to achieve these results", he acknowledges.
For Santiago it is a moment of "great joy and unlimited emotion", confesses the coach. "Now it's time to continue training to be ready for the National Championship to be held from July 3 to 8 in Salobreña, Granada," he adds.
His parents, the monitor and the entire team of the Tinajo Chess Club are very proud of what Santiago has achieved, they make clear.
