The last day of the 44th Calero Marinas Cup offered an exciting and very close finish. Despite a challenging weather report, with winds between 4 and 12 knots, the technical team managed to complete the three scheduled races, leaving the fleet at the limit until the last buoy

The first regatta of the day featured Península Racing, Aqua, and Charisma as protagonists, while the second was dominated by Aleph, Charisma, and Península Racing. The third and decisive race started with all boats perfectly aligned at the start, and with Península Racing and Aqua fighting for every meter, aware that the championship would be decided in this test

The victory in the last heat went to Gemera, followed by Aleph and Nika, but Península Racing crossed the finish line just ahead of Aqua (6th and 7th, respectively), thus securing the final triumph in the regatta and the championship title

The owner of Península Racing, John Bassadone, declared: “The team has worked very hard and these races have been a great test. For a long time the difference was measured in meters, and now we feel we have taken a step forward: we are sailing at the same speed, and even a little faster. This completely changes the tactics and makes the competition more intense than ever.”

At the awards ceremony, José Juan Calero, CEO of Calero Marinas, highlighted the intensity of the competition: “We have experienced very close races, demonstrating that the 44CUP is one of the most competitive international circuits. I congratulate the class on its successful format, which celebrates 20 years next year. We are proud to be part of the 44 Cup circuit and thank you for the trust placed in us to organize 14 events on the calendar.”

With this closing, the 44 Cup Calero Marinas bids farewell with another memorable edition, marked by demanding winds and high-level tactical races, reaffirming the prestige of the 44 class in the international monotpye sailing scene and Lanzarote as one of the most demanding regatta courses on the international scene
