The inaugural leader of the Orvecame-Isla de Lanzarote Rally has been Yeray Lemes from Lanzarote, who, co-piloted by Aitor Cambeiro in the Citroen C3 Rally2, has been the clear winner in the 19 kilometers of the first stage disputed in the night in the north of the island. It took place between El Mojón-Los Valles-Haría-Tabayesco, with a great time of 9:54.5, about six seconds better than the second classified, Enrique Cruz from Tenerife with the co-pilot Yeray Mujica from Gran Canaria, who aboard the Ford Fiesta R5 marked 10:00.7, while the third classified of the stage and of the general of the ROIL23 were the Czechs Jan Cerny-Petr Cernohorsky, who in their first contact with the fast Lanzarote stages recorded a time of 10:03.8.

Yeray declared at the stop control that he had driven very calmly and that he could still improve a lot, since his Citroen allowed it because it was perfectly set up. Which translated means that he could attack even more. The night of the Orvecame rally has made it clear who the leader is and all the candidates for the Canary Islands Championship should count on Lemes-Cambeiro to make their calculations.

The first classified in the CCRA have been the most cautious and have been classified in fourth place. Miguel Suárez-Eduardo González marked 10:11.1 with the Citoren C3 Rally2.

For their part, the team of Tonín Suárez-Jorge Cedres were fifth with the Porsche 911, first of the non-Regional rally followers and overtaking in the general the Tenerife Sergio Fuentes and his Lanzarote co-pilot Ariday Bonilla, with another Citroen C3 Rally2, sixth in the general after the night stage. With identical assembly are followed by Oscar Cabrera-Luis Ferrer, seventh.

Among the Rally 4 of the Sport You Canarias Cup, the Lanzarote pilots have shown their mastery of the terrain and Javi Cañada-Jonathan Hernández with the Opel Corsa were the best, ahead of Aníbal Machín and Giovani Fariña, at a very short distance.

The stage was interrupted for a moment by the incident of car 21 of Yoday Betancort, who finally entered the finish line. Of the total of 59 registered, three vehicles were missing, numbers 38, 50 and 58.

Before the start of the competition, a popular departure ceremony took place in the Rambla Medular, with many fans gathered to see the local drivers meet with the great teams of the CCRA. Which means a success with the change of location to the center of the capital.

The mayor of Arrecife and the Minister of Sports of the Island Council, together with the rest of the authorities and federative presidents were in charge of giving the starting flags to all the participants.

This Orvecame-Lanzarote rally is also valid for the FCA Junior Trophy, for the FALP Steering Wheel and FALP Promotion Trophy.

It must be remembered that the insular and regional titles are at stake. With respect to the CCRA, the main candidate is the Suárez-González team because they have almost 85% of possibilities of being proclaimed champions, while the options of Cerny-Cernohorsky are more remote, but also possible. And the few that Cruz-Mujica have are fading away, while their rivals Suárez-González continue in the race.
