This Thursday the registrations for the XI Tinajo-Lanzarote Slalom 2023 closed and the response has been massive, with 71 participants between touring car teams, car-cross drivers and quads/motorcycles. A figure that is the best of the season and one of the highest registrations in the land modality on the island of volcanoes.
CD. Evesport organizes one more year this Slalom of Tinajo-Lanzarote, being the fourth regional event after those held in Arico-Tenerife and La Palma. It is also valid for the Las Palmas Car-cross Championship, being open to the participation of quads and motorcycles of the Motorcycle Federation.
Among those registered are drivers of the stature of the CERT champion Juan Carlos Quintana and other regulars such as Gustavo Sosa, both with Skoda Fabia Rally2. The winner of last year Borja Pérez with Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, as well as Javier Sosa, Esteban Feo, Francisco Alamo, Jonathan Hernández, among others. Cristian Calderín with his Golf GTI, Iriome Perdomo and Francisco Javier Pérez with Subaru Impreza or Iván García with his BMW Proto.
Spectacular is the registration in car-cross, with the presence of almost all the favorites of both championships, such as Daniel Pérez, Jonathan Godoy, José Manuel González, Yeray Pérez or José Luis Fragiel, the latter leader of the Canary Islands Championship, as well as Jesús Tacoronte in the section of touring cars, driver who has won the three previous slaloms with the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo next to Mariola Sáez as co-driver.
The development of the test will be all day Saturday, July 22, with vehicle checks from 9 in the morning in the coastal town of La Santa, to begin the recognition round at 11:30 am and then the four sections, two per direction of the 4.750 km route between La Santa-Tinajo-La Santa. The starts/finishes will be located at the end of Calle las Betancoras from the LZ-67 road and in the old Las Gambuesas landfill.
It is expected to end with the awards ceremony to the best classified, from 4 pm, all from the town of La Santa, municipality of Tinajo, home of the only land slalom of Lanzarote and preamble to the next Rally Isla de los Volcanes to be held in early September.
One more year the competition is dedicated to the memory of the young driver Yefry Hernández, who died a few years ago when he was in a great sporting moment practicing motorsport and especially the land mode. Therefore, the motorsport of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura takes him into account whenever the date of this Slalom de Tinajo arrives.
Last year the triumph in cars was for the team of Borja Pérez-Jordi Díaz, with Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X. The podium was completed by Juan Carlos Quintana-Yeray Mujica (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X) and Iriome Perdomo-Francisco Cabrera (Subaru Impreza). In car-cross Raúl Armas won with a Speed-car Xtrem and Javier Peña also in quads with Suzuki LTR.
The City Council of Tinajo, Cabildo de Lanzarote, Art, Culture and Tourism Centers; Naviera Armas, CICAR, Orvecame, Insular Sports Service, Deportes Tinajo, FCA and FALP, are the main collaborators with the organization in charge of CD. Evesport and that make the test possible.
Next Tuesday at 8 pm the official list of entries will be published in order of departure.
