Vibrant weekend of competition experienced by the optimist team of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, with 14 sailors participating from the club in the Pel Escuder Memorial, the third and final qualifying event of the season for the Canary Islands ranking of the class. Mateo Roa took the absolute victory, adding the second triumph of the season after the first place achieved in the Manolo Pazos Trophy, Lola Carrión conquered the victory in the sub'13 category and the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife qualifies four crews for the Optimist Championship and Cup of Spain.

The lack of wind in the bay of Santa Cruz de Tenerife marked the opening day of the Pel Escuder Memorial, with none of the three races scheduled for Saturday being held. With gentle wind conditions, with an intensity of 5 to 6 knots, the three scheduled races were held on Sunday morning, and the Race Committee showed several black flags for being outside the lines at the starts.

In the first race of the day, Pedro Medina was one of the sailors who saw the black flag, which left the sailor of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife one step away from being left out of the Canary Islands team. A first race in which Mateo Roa crossed the finish line as the third classified.

Pedro Medina and Mateo Roa saw the black flag in the second race of the day, a circumstance that left the two sailors of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife without options to qualify for the Optimist Championship and Cup of Spain. And in the third race, Mateo Roa made up for it and scored the partial victory that qualified him within the Canary Islands team.

Once ashore, the coaches of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife requested a review of the results for the black flags shown to several of their sailors. After reviewing the video of the start of the second race of the day, the Race Committee requalified Mateo Roa and Pedro Medina, respecting the results they had achieved.

Mateo Roa is proclaimed the winner of the Pel Escuder Memorial of Optimist. In the sub'13 female category, Lola Carrión was also proclaimed champion of the Pel Escuder Memorial, showing her good work the young sailor of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife. And Leandreo de la Hoz was the second classified of the sub'11 category.
