The young sailor from Lanzarote, Mariano Stinga, belonging to the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, together with Pablo Rodríguez, achieved the runner-up position in the thirtieth edition of the Almirante Daniel Novas Trophy, held on November 9 and 10 in the waters of the Ferrol estuary.
The event, organized by the Naval Regatta Commission of Ferrol and the Territorial Secretariat of the SNIPE Class, had the collaboration of the Royal Galician Sailing Federation and the participation of 34 teams.
Although four regattas were initially planned, only three could be held due to weather conditions. In the first race, Mariano Stinga and Pablo Rodríguez reached the third position, surpassed by Fran Palacio and José Ramón Pardo (RC Astur de Regatas) and Diego López and Jaime Porcel (CNR Ferrol).
In the second regatta, Stinga's boat was unlucky, finishing in eighth position and seeing how they were surpassed in the general classification by Esteban Martínez de la Colina and Juan Maciñeira from A Coruña, and Francisco Silvela and Francisco Jiménez from Asturias. With 11 points, the lead of Fran Palacio and José Ramón Pardo, who won this race again, was considerably far away.
The last regatta of the Almirante Daniel Novas Trophy was exceptional for Mariano Stinga and Pablo Rodríguez, achieving the first position, which allowed them to access the podium. It only remained to know in which position, finally being second, being proclaimed runners-up, behind Fran Palacio and José Ramón Pardo, who, being second in the regatta, lifted the champion trophy.
The Real Club Náutico de Arrecife wants to congratulate Mariano Stinga for his excellent work and for always carrying the name of the club with pride.
