Magec Tías Lanzarote Contra la Violencia de Género could not end the year 2025 with a victory and fell this past Saturday at the University of Valencia Pavilion against CB Claret Benimaclet by a score of 88 to 66, in a match marked by the high pace of play and physical wear and tear.
The clash began with high intensity from both teams, who prioritized offensive play from the initial tip-off. The pace of the game favored the Valencian side, who were able to take advantage of a wider rotation to maintain freshness and clarity in attack. For their part, Magec Tías Lanzarote Contra la Violencia de Género faced the match with a short rotation, aggravated by the absence of Iranzu Drake for personal reasons, a circumstance that complicated the islanders' progress in the game.
Despite the difficulties, the Lanzarote team knew how to compete in the first quarter, maintaining the offensive pulse and closing the period with a tight 30 to 24. In the second quarter, the pace moderated slightly and fatigue began to appear on both sides, although CB Claret Benimaclet managed to extend its lead thanks to greater continuity in the game, reaching halftime with a score of 49 to 34.
After the halftime break, coach Jesús García sought tactical alternatives by combining more solid lineups and implementing different defensive strategies, aiming to reduce the score difference. These decisions allowed the red-and-black team to remain in contention for much of the second half. However, accumulated fatigue once again took its toll on the Lanzaroteñas, who, despite their effort and competitive spirit, struggled to maintain the initial pace, conceding easy baskets to the opponent.
The match finally concluded with a score of 88 to 66, marking the fourth consecutive defeat for Magec Tías Lanzarote Contra la Violencia de Género. With this result, the team closes out the year 2025 in eleventh place in the standings, with a record of seven losses and four wins, two spots above the relegation zone
After this last match played, Magec Tías Lanzarote Contra la Violencia de Género will enjoy a rest period for the Christmas holidays, before returning to work to prepare for a demanding start to 2026. The immediate schedule will see the red-and-black team play two consecutive games in Tías: on January 10th at 4:00 PM against GEIEG Pacisa and, less than 24 hours later, on January 11th at 1:00 PM, against CB Isla Bonita, in the match corresponding to the 13th round, the last of the first half of the season.
