On Saturday night, within the framework of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, CD Magec Tías once again demonstrated its commitment to social causes. Before the start of the match, the players of Magec Tías and CB Arxil, together with the referees, took to the court carrying a banner in solidarity with the cause.
The match between Magec Tías Against Gender Violence and CB Arxil was hard-fought from start to finish, culminating in a victory for the Galician team by 61 to 70. Factors such as the depth of the visiting bench, the shortage of local troops, the absence of Yaiza García, the success in the outside shooting of the Galicians and the rebounding capacity of Nerea Liste, were decisive in the final result.
Despite an initially unfavorable score, the locals managed to come back, although the Galicians recovered after a time-out requested by Marita Janeiro, the visitors' circumstantial coach due to Maite Méndez's illness. The score at the end of the first quarter was 14 to 17, extending that difference at the end of the first half, with 7 points against the Lanzarote team. The second quarter was a carbon copy of the first.
After the break, Magec Tías Against Gender Violence managed to counteract the work of the rival, cutting one point at the end of the third quarter (47 to 41), although the advantage was, at one point, more than ten points for the visitors.
The last quarter was a hit-or-miss. The locals seemed to come back in the match, lowering the difference to just 4 points, but after a visitor's time-out, a series of three-pointers ended the Lanzarote team's hopes, not without first trying, based on outside shooting, a comeback that did not arrive.
With this defeat, Magec Tías Against Gender Violence adds its fifth defeat of the season, falling by 61 to 70, and is already starting to think about the match that it will have next week, visiting the Tenerife court.
