The Ocean Lava Lanzarote 2024 successfully celebrated its fourteenth edition on Saturday morning, with the tourist town of Puerto del Carmen, in Tías, being the epicenter of regional, national and international triathlon. With tougher conditions compared to previous editions, the event was held with the participation of more than 500 triathletes. Lydia Dant repeated her triumph in the Ocean Lava Lanzarote 2024, and José Manuel Hernández took the victory in the men's category of the main event.
With British punctuality, a new edition of the Ocean Lava Lanzarote began on Saturday morning, with the triathletes starting from Los Pocillos beach. The toughest part would come with the cycling segment, where the wind made the route harder, also appearing in some areas a light rain.
The "Middle Distance" mode had a course of 1,900 meters of swimming, a cycling segment of 90 kilometers and finish with a demanding 20-kilometer run. In this edition, the "Middle Distance" mode was valid for the Canary Islands Championship by Age Groups and the last test of the season scoring for the FECANTRI Cup of the Canary Islands Triathlon Federation.
The British Lydia Dant (Pasion FIT) repeated her triumph in the Ocean Lava Lanzarote 2024, demonstrating a great form and surpassing her companions on the podium by more than 49 minutes. Lydia Dant crossed the finish line as the winner with a time of 4 hours, 24 minutes and 59 seconds. The second place went to Nat Morris (Pasion FIT) with 5:13:23 and third would be Elsa Werth (CN Reales) with a time of 5:14:58.
The victory in the men's category would be for José Manuel Hernández (CN Reales), who made a spectacular running segment to take the victory with a final time of 4 hours, 17 minutes and 36 seconds. The second position was for Tom Ward (Pasion FIT) with a time of 4:21:58, and the podium was completed by Víctor Manuel González (Todo por un sueño) in the third position with 4:24:35.

A good number of triathletes chose on Saturday to participate in the "Olympic" mode of the Ocean Lava Lanzarote 2024, having to complete a swimming segment of 1,500 meters, a 40-kilometer bike ride and a 10-kilometer run. In addition, in this mode there was the possibility of doing it by relay teams, in which each member of the group had to complete one of the segments.
The victory in the men's category was for Laurens Veruten (Team WCUP – Veldeman), crossing the finish line with a time of 1 hour, 57 minutes and 15 seconds. The second step of the podium was for a regular in the race, being second Jorge Wilkes (Chamo Díaz) with a time of 1:58:30. And the podium was completed by Rasmus Pilegaard with a time of 2:03:41.
In the women's category. Mia Leadbeater (Chamo Díaz) was the great dominator of the Olympic distance, crossing the finish line as the winner with a time of 2 hours, 19 minutes and 12 seconds. Three minutes later Caroline Nowak (Team All Out) entered as second classified with a time of 2:22:21, and Laura Socas (CN Metropole) was the third classified with 2:30:19.

The first to start on Los Pocillos beach and the first to cross the finish line were the triathletes of the "Supersprint" mode, where the youth of many of the participants stood out. They had to complete a course of 400 meters of swimming, 11 kilometers of cycling and 2.5 kilometers of running.
The victory in the men's category was for Rodrigo Callero (CD Zero Wattios) who completed the course with a time of 40 minutes and 1 second. The second place was for Alejandro Guerra (Chamo Díaz) with a time of 40:32, and Joel Concepción (CD Zero Wattios) took the third place with a time of 41:56.
Aoibjeann Ryan (Tried and Tested Tri Club) gave no options to the rest of the competitors in the "supersprint" distance, and took the victory with a time of 43 minutes and 31 seconds. The podium was completed by Idaira Rodríguez (Sports Club Tripate) with 47:09 and Carmen Marcos (Sports Club Tripate) with 48:09, second and third, respectively.
The youngest were also participants of the Ocean Lava Lanzarote 2024, although on this occasion the young triathletes of the prebenjamín, benjamín and alevín categories had to settle for a run, as the swimming segment was suspended due to the bad sea conditions. In the face of the youngest was reflected the emotion of being part of the event one more year.
